Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. The use of Myofascial Release allows us to look at each patient as a unique individual. Our one-on-one therapy sessions are hands-on treatments during which our therapists use a multitude of Myofascial Release techniques and movement therapy. We promote independence through education in proper body mechanics and movement, self treatment instruction, enhancement of strength, improved flexibility, and postural and movement awareness. Each Myofascial Release Treatment session is performed directly on skin. This enables the therapist to accurately detect fascial restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate release of the fascia.

Acupuncture:

The most widespread application of acupuncture is for pain relief, most commonly musculoskeletal pain but also other forms of chronic pain. Acupuncture is practiced using the Principle of evidence medicine.

Western medical acupuncture is a therapeutic modality involving the insertion of fine needles; it is an adaptation of Chinese acupuncture using current knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology, and the principles of evidence based medicine.

Treatment with acupuncture follows when a conventional medical examination, appropriate investigations and diagnosis confirm that the symptoms are suitable for treatment with acupuncture. Needles are inserted and stimulated to obtain the required physiological effect, and may be local to, or segmentally linked with, the presenting condition. The number of needles inserted varies upon the condition. Acupuncture stimulates the nerves in skin and muscle, and can produce a variety of effects which helps in treating the condition. The practitioner will assess each patient’s case and treatment will be tailored to the individual.

Treatment might be once a week to begin with and a typical course of treatment lasts 5 to 8 sessions.

During the session, you’ll usually be asked to sit or lie down. You may also be asked to remove some clothes so the practitioner can access certain parts of your body.

The needles used are fine and are usually a few centimetres long. The needles we use are single-use, pre-sterilised needles that are disposed of immediately after use.

Acupuncture is generally very safe.
